Barrier-free and suitable for the elderly

State grants are available for home conversion measures aimed at providing barrier-free access. In particular if you are planning to carry out conversions in order to make your home more suitable for the elderly and improve living comfort, you can apply in Germany for financial support from the KfW bank.

Threshold-free house entrance

A recessed seal meets the requirements with regard to barrier-free access which is suitable for the elderly while at the same time providing energy-efficient thermal protection.

Recessed seals ensure that the excellent thermal insulation provided as standard by the three continuous sealing layers is largely maintained even with threshold-free installation. They replace the profile seals at the lower edge of the door used in the case of installation with a threshold. The energy balance of the house remains good and unnecessary heat losses in the entrance area are avoided.

The recessed seal has automatic height and level equalisation with a stroke of 13 millimetres, which prevents a gap forming between door leaf and floor. The release button for lowering of the bottom seal is located on the hinge side of the door. The lowering of the seal prevents it being damaged when the door is opened or closed. The entrance remains threshold-free, allowing older persons or persons with physical limitations to enter or leave the house comfortably and safely.
